Day Camp Rules

Day camp is designed to give the girls and enjoyable and education experience while carrying out activities in the out of doors.  For a day camp to be successful and run smoothly there are certain regulations that must be met.  Rules are not there to restrict any activity but to insure a happy and health day camp.

Injuries and Emergencies

1.                  All girls and adults should be aware of the procedures made to meet emergencies.

2.                  All injuries or illnesses of any camper and staff are reported immediately to the health supervisor (camp nurse) and noted in the day camp medical log book.

3.                  Anyone taking a child out of camp during the day camp’s normal hours of operation must sign in the medical log book stating the reason for taking the child, the name of the child, the adult taking responsibility for the child and the time that the child is leaving day camp.

Clothing

4.                  Everyone that comes to the day camp needs to be wearing appropriate camp clothing for the time of year, campsite and activities.  Closed-Toe and heel shoes and socks are required at Lake Forest Day Camp.  Shoes must be worn at all times.

5.                  Camp Shirts are not to be cut or beaded at camp.  They must remain in the same condition as when received.  Damaged shirts will be replaced at parent’s expense. All responsible adults must wear their camp shirts to identify at a glance that they can be in supervisory positions with children.

Attention Adults:

11.            Adult volunteers are responsible for taking campers to the rest rooms, arranging for meal distribution, hat distribution and collection.  Adults can now apply sunscreen or lotion to “Safe zones only – this is the upper back and shoulder area.  Campers should be able to apply in any other area.  Adults can put the lotion in the girls’ hands and make sure they apply it themselves properly.  Also, check reapplication times.

12.            The Adult Unit leaders will be in-charge of the other adult volunteers, keeping their unit on time to rotations and the direct correspondent to the Day Camp Directors.

13.              Money, radios, cell phones, pagers, walkmans, pets, jewelry, gum, weapons, personal sports equipment or personal items of value are not to be brought to day camp without approval.

14.              Possession, consumption, and/or being under the influence of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, is prohibited on the premises of the day camp and is grounds for immediate dismissal.

15.              Reminder – This is a girl run program.  All activities and games have been planned by our Older Girl Troops keeping the age of the campers in mind.   If you have questions or comments regarding the conduct and participation of your older girl hosts please direct them to the Day Camp Director.  Please do not take over.  As parents and leaders we understand that it is hard to just sit back and watch, however the campers will still enjoy camp even if you would have done it differently.  Your job is to make sure the girls are safe at all times.

16.              Please keep your area clean and tidy.  Make sure trash is disposed off at the end of each day.  Unit area must be packed up at the end of each day.  Equipment, chairs, coolers, canopies must be folded down.  We are in a grassy area and we will be told when they need to water the area.  Please be prepared to move your items out of the way of the sprinklers at least once during the day camp duration.

17.              It is always a good idea to have an adult bring a cooler with extra water bottles and ice that can be transported around camp. With such a large camp one for each troop may be needed.  Ideal are the ones with wheels or a cooler in a cart.  We need to make sure the campers are hydrated at all times.  Coolers can also be used for campers’ water bottles and lunches and snacks brought to camp.

18.              All water bottles and food brought to camp must be labeled and taken home at the end of each day.  Any left at camp will be disposed off.

Visitors

19.              Any visitor to camp must be checked in with the Day Camp Director prior to entering camp.  Maximum time permitted to stay will be determined by the Day Camp Director.

20.              Have Fun……remember this is Day Camp!
