Lake Forest Girl Scout Day Camp 2010
July 11th – 15th, 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Welcome to our “?” Lake Forest Girl Scout Day Camp! We’re very excited that you’re here to be part of this fun experience. Below are some key items of information that you may need to know about day camp.

1. Adult Volunteer
Responsibilities:
Adults are supervisors only. Please allow the Camp Aides to run their
units and stations.
- Assist Camp Aides in assuring that campers have a safe and fun-filled
week!
- Take campers to restrooms
- Retrieve and distribute snacks for campers and aides
- Help campers with their dinners, sack or purchased from camp
- Bring one or two coolers for sack dinners and water bottles to be stored
in
- Help remind campers to drink lots of water while at camp
- Bring blankets for campers to sit on
- Bring canopies if desired (There is plenty of shade from trees at camp)
- Keep campers safe!
- Take all medical problems to the First Aid Station
- Report any problems with campers, adults or aides to Camp Directors
- Help keep track of your unit’s schedule
- Know and keep the emergency plan available
2. A Day at Camp for
Adults:
- Full-time and part-time adults must sign in at the “Volunteer Resources”
table before camp begins
- Locate unit’s camp site and set up chairs, blankets and canopies, etc.
- Help to greet campers and their parents
- Assist Camp Aides with check-in of campers (sign-in, check water bottle,
sun screen, dinner, etc.)
- A full-timer leader from each unit must attend a brief volunteer meeting
at the stage area if needed
- Have a good time and keep the campers safe
- Assist Camp Aide with check-out of campers
3. General Rules for Day
Camp:
- SMILE! Be positive! Be safe!
- No smoking, alcohol or other controlled substances
- No obscene, abusive or lewd language, gestures or actions
- Do not punish children at camp. If there is a problem, bring it to a Camp
Director’s attention
- Poor behavior will not be acceptable. A child will be sent home if they
cannot behave properly
- Campers and full-time volunteers must wear the camp T-shirt, closed-toed
athletic shoes and a hat
- Non-volunteering parents are to drop off and pick up children only
- No running or climbing at camp
- Do not climb over or sit on fence and use fence openings only
4. Tuesday Overnighter:
- Troop leaders are responsible for their campers from Tues. at 7:30 p.m. to
Wed. at 1:30 p.m.
- All troops are responsible to bring their own equipment
- Bring a camp/beach chair for a night time movie
- All camping equipment must be cleaned up prior to the beginning of day
camp on Wednesday
5. Each Unit will be
provided with:
- one big bucket for storage
- large packet of baby wipes
- one large Ziploc bag for each camper in the unit
- trash bags
- pens and markers
- clipboard with unit roster, dinner list, sign-in and sign-out sheet and
unit’s schedule for week

*Please keep in mind that
the Camp Aides are training to become our future leaders. Let them do their
jobs and only assist when needed.
